Control what the AI can use
For educators
Alexandria answers from course materials rather than from a model’s general knowledge. Which materials are in scope, and how the AI responds, are both configurable.
Hide a document from students
Section titled “Hide a document from students”Open a document’s explore panel from the arrow at the right of its row in the library. The panel carries a Hide control, which reads Show once the document is hidden. Hiding a document removes it both from the student view and from the material the AI may answer with.
Use it where a course contains:
- exam papers or solutions you are not ready to release
- draft material still being written
- reference material licensed only for your own use
- anything that came across in the LMS sync but should not be a study source
Hidden documents stay visible to you and to teaching assistants.
Choose how the AI answers
Section titled “Choose how the AI answers”Four modes ship with the platform. Students switch between them from the selector beneath the chat box; which of them are available, and which one a chat opens in, are set per course under settings → chatbots.

Custom chatbots
Section titled “Custom chatbots”Chatbots may be defined per course with their own instructions, and published or withheld individually. One may be set as the course default.
Student access limits
Section titled “Student access limits”Students cannot access hidden documents, courses in which they are not enrolled, or other students’ conversations.
