What is Alexandria?
Alexandria is an AI study environment built on one course’s actual materials. It is reached from inside your institution’s LMS, and it runs on the lecture slides, readings and notes an educator already has.
The loop
Section titled “The loop”Most of what Alexandria does follows one cycle. It is worth understanding, because every feature is a step in it.

A course syncs in. An educator connects the course from Canvas, Brightspace or Moodle. Materials, folder structure, and the roster come across, and re-syncing afterwards only moves the difference.

Students question the material. They ask in their own words and get answers drawn from that course, each one citing the page it came from so it can be checked.

Those questions become teaching signal. What students asked, and where they got stuck, is visible to the educator while the course is still running.

The educator adjusts: spends five minutes on the confusing section, hides a source, changes how the AI answers, and the next cycle is better.
The third step is the one people do not expect. An exam tells you who misunderstood something after the fact. A room full of students asking questions in their own words tells you what was unclear while you can still do something about it.
What students get

- A reader where highlighting any passage or figure lets you ask about exactly that
- Practice questions generated from the material they were actually taught
- Search by meaning, for when you remember the concept but not the term
The line above the answer names what it was built from and how many sources it used. Numbered markers sit against individual claims rather than at the end, so a specific sentence can be checked rather than the answer as a whole.
What educators get

- Control over sources: hide anything the AI should not answer from
- Control over behaviour: including a Socratic mode that asks rather than answers
- Course insights: where the cohort is stuck, while it still matters
Getting in
Section titled “Getting in”Through your LMS. An administrator connects Canvas, Brightspace or Moodle once for the institution, and after that Alexandria appears inside courses. There is no separate password: your LMS says who you are.

Where your data lives
Section titled “Where your data lives”Alexandria is built by Library of Alexandria B.V. in Amsterdam and runs entirely in the EU on Google Cloud. Data is processed and stored in region, encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2 and above) and at rest (AES-256).
We do not sell data, run advertising, or do behavioural targeting. That is a contractual commitment, not a policy statement.
